Nati suddenly found himself racing down the hallway toward the entrance of the house. He paused next to the kitchen and shouted "Elisha!" Then he continued running toward the front door. The stairwell seemed empty at first glance and Nati hesitated. Yet he knew that he must leave. Even if there was an ambush set up outside, inside the house things were definitely dangerous.
From outside it was impossible to see into the animal carriage. Only Tom and a few monkeys remained inside, resting in their small compartments, apparently unaffected by all the noise outside of the carriage doors.
Tom sat down on the single bed near the wall, brushing off the remains of the monkeys' last meal. He opened a small built-in door and a white screen appeared.
