Once you have had your fill of fiction, the Aster and Kalanit sections, symbolizing patience and perseverance, offer personal essays and select poems about the author’s experiences raising her children and living in Eretz Yisrael. Yael Mermelstein’s stories and essays have appeared in numerous publications and this is her ninth published book. Her stories have been approved by the Israeli Ministry of Education for study for the English matriculation exams in Israel and they have been published in textbooks used nationwide. Yael’s children’s book, Izzy the Whiz and Passover McClean was a P.J. library selection, distributed to children country-wide. She is the recipient of the Sydney Taylor Manuscript Award. Yael lives in Israel with her family and her pet computer.
